This shoot was a bit of an experiment, and honestly, it turned out better than I could have imagined. The concept leaned into a dominant vibe, something a little edgier with a gold chain, a collar, and cuffs as the main features. There was gentle pulling, subtle restraint, and a whole lot of personality that Mimi brought to every shot.
What really set this session apart was the direct interaction with the camera. Typically, I don’t ask models or clients to look straight into the lens. It’s just not the style I usually go for. But this time, I leaned into it, and it completely transformed the energy of the shoot. Mimi’s gaze was captivating, pulling the viewer in and creating a level of intimacy and intensity that was something entirely new for me. It wasn’t just about capturing her in the moment. It was about making the viewer feel like they were in it with her.
This shift in style, paired with the props and concept, created a dynamic I haven’t explored much before. The balance between strength and surrender, between control and vulnerability, gave the photos and video a lot of depth. They’re sensual, sure, but also confident and unapologetic.
Looking back, I’m so glad we took this approach. It’s a reminder that stepping out of your comfort zone, whether it’s introducing new elements like direct eye contact or embracing a completely different vibe, can lead to some of your best work. If you’ve been thinking about a boudoir session with an edge, don’t hold back. You might end up with something you never expected but absolutely love!

Insanely gorgeous! Clay, did you add a CTO gel to your light outside that window to make this as warm and beautiful as it is? I assume because this is Video this was a constant light out there. And then did you match the same color tone with your practical light in the background?
