I recently had the pleasure of capturing one of my self portrait sessions at the stunning Sparkling Hill Resort exploring intimacy, solitude, and connection. The session started quietly, with just me and the expansive view, framed by the large windows that filled the room with soft natural light. There’s something about standing in that stillness, letting the outside world fall away, and allowing the lens to capture the quiet strength and vulnerability that exists within those moments.

As the session progressed, the mood began to shift. It became more intimate, especially when Clay joined, gently adorning me with water drops and kisses during a serene bath time. The feeling was sensual, deeply connecting us to the present moment. The soft warmth of the water and the delicate touch of his presence made the experience feel like a dance between body and soul, a true celebration of love and closeness.

The majority of the images are edited in black and white, enhancing the timelessness of these moments. The rich contrast draws attention to the textures, the play of light and shadow, and the emotions that are subtly captured in each frame. There’s a certain purity that comes with the absence of colour, making each shot feel both raw and refined—a visual representation of intimacy, self-reflection, and connection.

It was a session that reminded me of the beauty of being present, of allowing the camera to witness not just a face or a body, but the emotions and sensations that linger beneath the surface.
